MELODY FAIRCHILD RUNNING CAMP
ACTIVITIES
Each day of camp is creatively designed to challenge and inspire campers, with daily runs on the trails of the YMCA Camp of The Rockies and neighboring Rocky Mountain National Park. For easy distance and recovery, hill and interval training, a cross-country race, pool running and instruction, lessons on flexibility and core strengthening and an ascent to the Continental Divide at 12,000-13,000 ft. altitude to culminate a transcendent week of running!
Woven into the camp curriculum are sessions on the latest in Sports Nutrition for young women, sports psychology and running physiology, including proper recovery. A vital discussion on women's running and related issues will continue throughout the week, including discussing the importance of a healthy body image. We will offer to the campers a new archetype of Woman Runner, one who embodies strength, courage, skill, joy and self-compassion and regards these as the most enduring qualities of a successful athlete.
Time for journal-writing and self-reflection related to all of these topics will be an integral part of the camp experience, as well as play and relaxation time.
We will rise between 7:00 and 7:30 am each day, with lights out by 10:30 pm.
